My name is Tracy Blair, and I have been teaching for 17 years. I’ve worked with students in grades 5-12, focusing on every aspect and all levels of English literature and language arts. I’ve taught and tutored various other subjects, as well. I currently teach for Chicago Public Schools.
My favorite part of teaching is connecting with students. I love teaching English because of how fun it is to analyze literature with kids and teenagers, and I love helping them grow as writers. It has been an honor to have students tell me that one of the books we read together is now their favorite piece of literature, or for a previous student to say that college writing is easy thanks in part to my class.
I have a secret love of math as well — particularly algebra. One reason I enjoy tutoring in addition to teaching is for the opportunity I get to work with students in other subjects beyond what I teach each day.
In regards to my education background, I earned an Honors Bachelors in Writing-Intensive English and French from Marquette University. My Masters in Education is from Valparaiso University, and I earned a Masters in Library and Information Science from San Jose State University.
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, swimming, doing yoga, or crafting.
